COVID-19 Cleaning and Disinfecting
Updated: Apr 2, 2020
The following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) include the terms "cleaning" and "disinfecting".
Cleaning refers to the removal of germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces. Cleaning does not kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.
Disinfecting refers to using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection.
As part of our regular and consistent service to short-term property owners, we routinely clean frequently touched surfaces, for example
tables
doorknobs
light switches
handles
desks
toilets
faucets
sinks
with household cleaners and disinfectants that are appropriate for the surface. We will use disinfectant solutions per CDC recommendations with at least 70% alcohol content or a bleach and water solution.
In response to the COVID-19 recommendations and in addition to cleaning and disinfecting high-touch areas we will do the following to control the spread of this virus:
Wear disposable gloves when cleaning and disinfecting surfaces.
Discard gloves after each cleaning.
Wash hands immediately after gloves are removed.
Regarding textiles such as towels, linens, and other laundry, we will:
Wear disposable gloves while removing dirty linens and towels.
Discard gloves after each cleaning.
Wash hands immediately after gloves are removed.
Bleach fabrics that are colorfast on the warmest water setting per manufacturer specifications.
Clean and disinfect clothes hampers.
